Interrogation

Vinyl, 10’x24′ – 2021

“Interrogation” is a giant flowchart that spans the wall of its space and uses algorithmic design to dissect the question, ‘Do we have a problem in this so-called United States?” The piece literally and figuratively moves the viewer through the question and analysis. Douglas Connard poses this rhetorical question in order to invoke self-reflection in the viewer, while the piece exists as a work of Connard’s own self-reflection. Connard designs with the intention of influencing viewers by asking open-ended questions and allowing the viewer to read the piece from any direction. Connard’s practice is one of critical design; his use of typography creates emphasis on certain points and creates visual interest, while arrows direct the viewer through the movement of the piece.

Let’s build something together.
